My new WRT54GL

Yeah… for those who are unfamiliar with it, let me explain (for those who are hardware freak, just ignore this). WRT54GL is a wireless router. Its main function is to manage one internet connection for many PCs. I decided to buy it after I got tired of switching on and off the internet connection between my PC and laptop. Actually I can do it without this hardware, it’s called ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), but the PC which is used as the gateway must be ON all the time. This is the case that I don’t want. I want to be freely switch between my PC and my Laptop without having to turn on my PC and my laptop altogether.
After I checked out Mr. Google, actually I bought the WRT54G (without L) which is cheaper than the one with L. However, after few minutes running yesterday, the internet connection kept dropping and dropping; yes, it’s unstable and perhaps it was not compatible with my AP (the one we usually called RADIO at the grid antenna). Finally, I returned it to the shop and asked other brand or types (my choices at that time were between D-Link DL524 and Linksys WRT54G). The shop offered me WRT54GL. Because the time is very short, I didn’t mean to wait any longer for the other brands/types which were not available at that day. So, I decided to buy the WRT54GL.
Using auto install from its CD-ROM, I found it very easy to configure this hardware. Just one process, I already connected to the Internet. This was not the case when I configure the WRT54G. I had to do it manually from web browser configuration after I failed to do it with auto install. And that was bad start I thought.
Now, at the time I type this story, I already connected to the Internet via wireless connection provided by WRT54GL. Nice and smooth. Three bar of signals is more than enough for me to connect to the Internet. Now I’m free to work and do my translation job everywhere, not necessarily wired to the network switch .. but move everywhere in my house with my laptop.
