Choosing the Right Car

When I was a kid, I always dream about having a car (my family of course, not me) which is too hard to be true. My parent is just public service officers who only has enough salary for daily living and paying our education. At that time, I almost desperate that it is nearly impossible for us to have a car. However, that was the beginning of my subconscious mind to think about the way to success. And thank God I made it my way to that point. Now it’s time for me to have a car as I’ve always been dreaming for so long. Actually it was a year ago that I started to think of buying a car. But, things always change and I have to consider everything before making the final decision.
Now that I have already made a decision to buy a car, I need some consideration about which car I should buy. I’ve been searching some information necessary for things related of buying a car. Actually, buying a brand new car is not too difficult because we don’t need to think about the car quality and history in the past. We get the car and we will make the history of that car. It is different if we buy used car. Because this time I’m deciding to buy new car, I think it is not necessary for me to consider anything about used car.
I found some information related to the things to consider before buying a new car, and some of them are as follows:
1. Making the right decision before visiting a showroom.
Before we visit the car showroom, we need to decide what kind of a car we’d like to buy. Is it the feature, the model, the price or the performance that we like of a car? Many dealers want you to buy the car they offer, and not the one that we need to buy. It is better for us to pick two or three dealers in order to compare their offer and adjust them to the budget we have.
This time I don’t need to visit any dealers because I already have one single choice of a car.
2. Have enough information.
Use the internet to search for a car before visiting any showroom. Check the price in the dealers and ask some brochure to consider the features and the any offers included in the sales.
This time, I already have enough information about the car and I call the dealer to visit me at home in order to explain to me about the car I choose, the feature and additional bonuses included in the sales.
3. Salesperson is not your friend.
Always remember, salespersons are hired to generate money, they’re not your friend. Although one of your family is the salesperson, they are paid to do the job: generating cash for the company, and they also receive commission for the ca sales. You shuld be careful to them and considering your budget because salespersons will never think about your budget.
This is not what I really experienced, and I’m sure salesperson that came to my house do the same way. However, because I already have a choice, she just did what I told her to do: filling up the paperwork and receive the down payment.
4. Get preliminary approval
Make sure that you already have approval from the bank or leasing parties for buying a car in credit. By having preliminary approval from the financial institutions, you can adjust the car price with the credit limit, and you can also adjust your monthly payment capacity based on that limit.
I bought the car in cash so I need no preliminary approval from any institution.
6. Consider the maintenance costs
Consider the maintenance costs for a car you buy. You need to consider the yearly cost because some cheap car will add extra cost for their maintenance because of the low quality of components.
Because I bought brand new car, I can say that I’m free of maintenance cost for the next three years because they are included in the after sales guarantee. What I need to consider is just the yearly tax and fuel.
10. Takes more time to consider
Do not let the salesperson gives you an option to let you try the car before you have a deal. Because, in a psychological perspective, you’ll be trapped in a feeling of to be forced to buy the car and your bargaining power will be lower. the best way to make a decision is that you need at least 24 hours after you visit the showroom to reconsider your choice before deciding that is the right car for you.
I don’t need to do a test drive because I already did it with my friend’s car. So this time, I only need to think about when my car will be delivered!
I think Everyone will be happy if getting the right car for him/her. I think I am!
