High-Speed Photography – a DIY project

I recently found the link from one the photography forum which shows a video presentation about the experiment of high speed photography capturing the moment of balloon explosion and CD break using digital camera and DIY sound-triggered flash.
This experiment uses old unused film camera which will be used as the flash, a microphone and digital SLR camera as the equipment for capturing the moment. The first step is breaking apart the film camera and taking its flash unit to be used in the capture process. Then, connect the capacitor unit to the microphone which will be used as the trigger for the flash resulted from the sound of the things to be captured. In this video, the exploded balloon will triggered the flash and in less than 1/100 seconds, the moment of balloon explosion can be captured using digital SLR camera.
